The Children for Peace News

From our hearts

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dame Montserrat Caballe and Sophia Loren for their support.

Montserrat Caballe has been the voice for so many children who would otherwise have been forgotten. She has given of her time and talent for the benefit of children for most of her lifetime. She embodies Man's humanity to Man and sets an example for all of us. Her warmth, kindness and sincerity radiate like a sunbeam and shine the light of hope to children everywhere. We are eternally grateful for her generosity to The Children for Peace.

Sophia Loren made a surprise appearance at our 4 December 2009 gala. Her entrance stunned the guests to whom she stated "I am with The Children for Peace." On behalf of the children who will be assisted by the proceeds of the gala, we thank her for her care and the absolutely amazing surprise made by her appearance for all of our attendees. She truly is with The Children for Peace. (See the article below)

Montserrat Caballé

High Note from the Heart

Prestigious and international evening for charity and grand music with a raffle at the end and an auction with Valeria Marini as auctioneer. And a surprise arrival at the end by Sophia Loren. The terrace of the Hotel of the Plaza of the Republic is immaculate.

White tables, flowers, candles and the lighting suffused. Red was only present on the grand bows that garnished the chairs and rembrance for the fight against AIDS. And the event for The Children for Peace, an organization that proposes to help the disadvantaged children.

Everything is groomed in minimal detail with a perfect arrangement. When the lights go out, on the stage appears Kledy who performed a solo with two children.

There is Caterina Balivo thanking the dancer and greets Massimo Leonardeli, the organizer and vice-president of The Children for Peace Europe. But the real star of the evening is Montserrat Caballé who everyone refers to with the title of "Dame." In fact, the famous soprano has received just today from President Giorgio Napolitano the hightest recognition of the Republic of Italy, the Gran Croce (Great Cross). The evocative ceremony is carried out in the presidential office. And for the evening, the voice of Montserrat Caballé hovers singing four arias including Habanera di Bizet, and Ave Maria by Mascagni, everyone applauding, indeed acclamations, by the numerous and selective guests present.

There are Adnan and Lamia Kashoggi with her parade of crazy jewels; this time rubies the size of nuts. A festive atmosphere with guests coming from all over the world, such as several Arab princes and Qatari princes. Arriving, all decked out in long evening dresses: Zeudy Araja and Barbara Bouchet, Nancy Brilli, Angela Melilli, Elsa Martinelli, Saverio Ferragina, Beppe Convertini, Massimo Gargia, Tiziana Rocca, Serena Grandi, Laura Gigante, Antonia De Mita. Photo after photo. From Marisela Federici to the Princess Marila Gaetani to Maria Sciolone and husband and from Prince Manfred and Princess Vittoria Windish-Graetz, from Manuele Malenotti, from the Ambassador of Belize to Pucci Salamé and the Prince Kalifa. It is also a night of recognition, the Maggiore award for the children (for Peace) goes to those who are disseminators of information about, and the cure for, AIDS go to Professor Antonella D'Arminio Monforte, Dr. Roy De Vita, and the journalist, Silvana Giacobini. The award by Gianni Bulgari for Enigma goes to Montserrat Caballé. The livliness of the auction of two photographs by Stefano Guidani autographed by Sophia Loren and Richard Gere is very amusing and full of fury with the raffle of prizes livened by Pamela Prati who extracted the numbers. Offered prizes: a scooter (motor scooter), add high fashion, jewelry, an opera of Sandro Chia, a stay at the Capri, etc., etc., etc. For the finish, onboard the illuminated swimming pool, a thousand candles.
